These therapies are commonly used by counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists, and hypnotherapists.
Holistic Integrative Therapy
Holistic Integrative Therapy (HIT) is Geoff’s unique holistic healing approach that combines empirically-supported talking therapies with spiritual energetics. It is a transpersonal psychological approach that works with the mind, body, energy and spirit in a flexible manner, based on the needs of the client. A large part of HIT is the counselling and the therapeutic relationship, based on the most common and effective psychotherapies used by psychologists, counsellors and coaches. When counselling is applied Geoff will flexibly use a variety of therapies based on the needs and disposition of the person he is working with. The therapies below are approaches Geoff is trained in and utilises within his holistic healing process.

How does Counselling help?
Counselling works through a trusting therapeutic relationship in which you feel safe, heard and understood. A trained counsellor knows how to ask the right questions, helping you look beneath immediate problems and identify values, beliefs and expectations that may previously have been unknown or unexamined. Through this process, unconscious patterns are brought into awareness, allowing you to understand how past experiences may be shaping your present life. Counselling can also help you acknowledge and release emotions held within the body. With greater clarity, you and your counsellor can crystallise practical steps for healing, growth and moving your life meaningfully forward.
Why Work With Geoff?
Dr Geoff Lyons brings nearly twenty years of experience across counselling, psychotherapy, mental health, relationship therapy and university education. He holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology and has worked in private practice, psychiatric and general hospital settings, oncology and palliative care. He also has extensive experience teaching and training counsellors and psychologists at postgraduate level.
Geoff offers an integrative approach rather than applying the same method to every person. His work draws on psychodynamic psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), clinical hypnotherapy and relationship therapy. Where appropriate, meditation, breathwork and spiritual or energetic practices can also be incorporated according to each client’s interests and beliefs.
Geoff’s style is warm, relaxed and down-to-earth, while remaining professional and purposeful. He is skilled at putting people at ease, asking thoughtful questions and helping clients understand the deeper beliefs, expectations and unconscious patterns influencing their lives. Sessions are collaborative but active: Geoff will listen carefully, offer honest observations and help you translate insight into practical change. Although therapy can involve difficult and deeply personal work, there is also room for warmth, humour and genuine human connection.
