PsychoDynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic therapy is a traditional form of talk therapy that helps you understand the deeper emotional patterns shaping your life. Rather than focusing just on current problems, it also looks at how earlier experiences, particularly important relationships, may be influencing how you feel and behave today. This approach explores unconscious patterns, internal conflicts, and the protective strategies you have developed over time. It also pays attention to what happens within the therapy relationship itself, as the feelings that arise there can reveal important information about how you connect with others. Psychodynamic therapy aims to help you gain insight, break unhelpful relationship cycles, and develop a stronger, more stable sense of self. It is widely used by psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists, and psychiatrists. It is one of Dr Geoff’s primary therapeutic approaches.
Cognitve Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical approach that helps you manage stress, worry, and burnout by changing how you think and respond to challenges. By identifying unhelpful thought patterns and replacing them with healthier ones, CBT empowers you to regain control over your emotions. This goal-oriented therapy teaches practical techniques to break the cycle of negative thinking, reduce anxiety, and build resilience. Working with a CBT therapist, you’ll learn to navigate everyday stressors and cultivate a clearer mind. It’s an effective, evidence-based method to enhance your mental well-being and move forward with confidence and calm. It is often used by clinical psychologists and medical doctors. Dr Geoff is a CBT practioner and instructor.
Imago Relationship Therapy
Image Relationship Therapy (IRT) is a communication-based therapeutic approach that focuses on enhancing interpersonal skills to improve relationships. It emphasizes the importance of effective communication, helping individuals express their feelings, needs, and desires clearly and constructively. Through structured training and exercises, IRT teaches clients how to listen actively, respond empathetically, and manage conflicts in a healthy way. This method empowers individuals to break down barriers, foster deeper connections, and create a more supportive relational environment. By developing these essential communication skills, IRT promotes healthier, more fulfilling relationships, ultimately leading to greater emotional well-being and satisfaction in personal interactions. Dr Geoff is a certified Imago Therapist and has helped many couples improve their relationship and save their family.
Acceptance & Commtment Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a unique therapeutic approach that emphasizes psychological flexibility. It encourages you to accept difficult thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or avoiding them, fostering a healthier relationship with your inner experiences. ACT helps you clarify your values and commit to actions that align with those values, even in the face of adversity. This approach is particularly effective for managing stress, anxiety, and burnout, as it teaches mindfulness skills to remain present and focused. By embracing acceptance and taking committed action, you can cultivate resilience and lead a more fulfilling, purpose-driven life. ACT is also often used by clinical psychologists.
Schema Therapy
Schema Therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that focuses on identifying and changing deeply entrenched patterns or “schemas” developed in childhood and carried into adulthood. These schemas are negative beliefs about oneself and the world, often stemming from unmet emotional needs. Schema Therapy combines cognitive, behavioral, and experiential techniques to help individuals recognize these patterns and understand how they affect their thoughts, feelings, and relationships. By exploring early experiences and their impact, clients can learn to reframe negative beliefs, develop healthier coping strategies, and create more fulfilling relationships. This therapy is particularly effective for addressing personality disorders, anxiety, and depression.
Eye Movement Desensitiation Reprogramming (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a specialized psychotherapy technique designed to help individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences. This evidence-based approach involves guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation while recalling distressing memories, which aids in reducing the emotional charge associated with those memories. EMDR helps clients reprocess trauma, allowing them to integrate and make sense of their experiences, leading to diminished symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and depression. By fostering a sense of safety and support, EMDR empowers individuals to reclaim their lives and develop healthier coping mechanisms for future challenges.
Neurolingusitc Programming
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a powerful approach that explores the connection between your thoughts, language, and behaviors. It offers practical tools and techniques to help you overcome challenges, enhance communication, and achieve personal goals. By understanding how language shapes your experiences, NLP empowers you to reframe negative thoughts and develop more positive, resourceful states of mind. Whether you’re dealing with stress, improving relationships, or seeking personal growth, NLP can help you create lasting change. Its focus on flexibility and adaptability makes it a valuable resource for anyone looking to enhance their emotional well-being and performance in various areas of life. NLP is similar to CBT and often used by life coaches and hypnotherapists.
Hakomi Mindfulness Based Somatic Therapy
Hakomi Mindfulness-Based Somatic Psychotherapy is a gentle and effective therapeutic approach that integrates mindfulness, body awareness, and experiential learning. This method encourages clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations in a safe and supportive environment. By fostering present-moment awareness, Hakomi helps individuals uncover unconscious patterns and beliefs that influence their behavior and relationships. The therapy emphasizes self-discovery, allowing clients to experience their inner world deeply and compassionately. Through this process, clients can cultivate healing, personal growth, and transformation, ultimately leading to a greater sense of self-awareness and emotional well-being in their lives.
Neuro Emotional Technique
Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) is a mind-body therapy that integrates principles from psychology and energy medicine to address emotional and physical issues. This technique identifies and helps resolve unresolved emotional conflicts that may manifest as physical symptoms or health challenges. NET practitioners use a muscle testing method to pinpoint emotional triggers and stressors, allowing clients to process and release these negative emotions effectively. By combining cognitive and somatic techniques, NET facilitates emotional healing, reduces stress, and promotes overall well-being. This holistic approach empowers individuals to achieve emotional balance, enhance their mental health, and improve their physical condition through greater self-awareness and understanding.
